Ontario is home base for a diversity of regional and national organizations doing remarkable work on ecological farming and food sovereignty. These organizations are the backbone for supporting a thriving network of seed producers that are working to preserve, improve, and develop new varieties of vegetables and field crops suitable to Ontario’s farming conditions. In Ontario, The Bauta Family Initiative is hosted by the Ecological Farmers of Ontario (EFAO). Since 2016, the EFAO has facilitated seed learning events, programs supporting vegetable seed and diversified grain growers, a farmer-to-farmer mentorship program, a monthly virtual drop-in for growers, and more.
