Hélène Saby is the farmer behind Semences de L’Equinoxe in Quebec. Dedicated to providing seed for Quebec’s market farmers, Hélène talks about why it’s important for farmers to explore locally grown seeds and the advantages that she and other local seed growers have over commodity seed.

After several years in vegetable production, Hélène Saby shifted her focus to seeds in 2021. After learning with the Co-op Tourne-Sol Farm and Semences du Portage, Hélène launched her own seed farm. Located in St-Chrysostome in Montérégie and certified organic, Hélène aims to produce and select varieties well adapted to the needs of professional market gardeners.
