Radicchio is a diverse crop with many cultivars, quickly becoming a popular fall crop for restaurants and for sale through farmers markets. This webinar includes a discussion about saving seed from this biennial crop, as well as an exploration of what on-farm trialing for radicchio looks like. Radicchio is part of the Canadian Organic Vegetable Improvement Project (CANOVI). Planting times for radicchio are day length specific, and trials are a great way to identify the best varieties and suggested planting dates for each region, as well as identifying varieties that would be suitable parents for future breeding projects.
