ONTARIO

Ontario is home base for a diversity of regional and national organizations doing remarkable work on ecological farming and food sovereignty. These organizations are the backbone for supporting a thriving network of seed producers that are working to preserve, improve, and develop new varieties of vegetables and field crops suitable to Ontario’s farming conditions.

Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO) is the regional hub for The Bauta Family Initiative on Canadian Seed Security in Ontario. The Seed Program at EFAO is a growing hub for vegetable, grain and seed growers working together to increase the quality, quantity, and diversity of varieties of regionally-adapted seed grown right here in Ontario. We provide high quality training, on-farm research, and networking programs on seed production for farmers, growers and seedkeepers across the entire province.
