Regional Program Coordinator,

After three years of working for Organic Alberta, Tierra is thrilled to join The Bauta Family Initiative on Canadian Seed Security as the Prairie Regional Coordinator. Tierra is passionate about creating sustainable food systems and positive changes towards food security and climate change. Tierra first fell in love with the world of food systems as a summer student with Organic Alberta. This experience left her wanting to learn more about food security and food policy so she interned with Food Secure Canada where she developed the Community Engagement Toolkit for A Food Policy for Canada. After graduating from Mount Allison University with a B.A. Hons. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (Politics Emphasis), Tierra rejoined Organic Alberta where she worked on developing farm clubs in Alberta, a soil health toolkit and curriculum for organic growers, and managed the Pivot and Grow website and resources. As a Regional Coordinator, Tierra is committed to supporting growers and the seed community in creating a resilient seed and food system. In her spare time, Tierra enjoys hiking and is still reliving her memories of her 2019 Camino de Santiago pilgrimage where she hiked 500-miles across Spain.
